Laptop Slave…

Okay, let me start by saying that my laptop was one of the best purchases that I have ever made in my life. I absolutely love my laptop! My boyfriend says that it gets more attention or just as much attention as he does. That’s not true, I don’t cook for my laptop…LOL!! Anyway, I take it with me almost everywhere, I keep it on – in sleep mode – when I’m not using it, it stays in my bed when it’s not out with me, and I share a lot of my thoughts with it…well, I guess my boyfriend does have an argument (smile!). So, you should not have a problem guessing what kind of toll it took on me when I accidentally formatted my computer. Yes, formatted my laptop!! YIKES! YIKES! YIKES!! I was sick…literally!! I was queasy, had a migraine, could not function, and had to call out from work. I then took it to Best Buy and was relieved when the Geek Squad said they could get all of my documents back. But before that, he asked me did I “back-up”. Back-up??? Huh?? What is that?? So I asked him. When he explained I understood, but was still clueless about how to do it….after that experience, I learned!!! Anyway, he told me that he could get my documents back and started to give me a price. I cut him off and told him that I didn’t care how much it would be, just get it back!

I realized then that I am a slave to my laptop. I am so bonded to it that I didn’t even want to submit for two or three weeks to have my speaker fixed. I figure I can do with out sound from a cd, I just need to download it onto my computer. Sad isn’t it??

  1. I agree with you. My laptop is like an extension of me. It is how I stay connected with my friends, do my work, edit pictures, and basically get news of the world. I listen to music on it and watch movies. In my spare time, I cruise my favorite sites. At the beginning of this school year, my computer was in the shop for about a month or more. I almost had a breakdown. I became known as the crazy lady when I was on the phone with the Geek Squad b/c I called them everyday to see when it would be done. Even though I could use my roommate’s laptop, it wasn’t the same. It is sad how much you can become addicted to a piece of technology. So many important things of mine are on that computer.

  2. Smiling!! You called…at least you had the sense to go home. I stayed at Best Buy for about three hours asking if it was done yet. Then I decided to go to Barnes and Noble (right around the corner) so that I wouldn’t be far when they called me. I stayed hovering the area until about fifteen minutes before Best Buy closed. Yes, it was fixed by then!!
